Director, Business Development

Job Description

Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, the Director, Business Development and Marketing is responsible for driving growth through optimizing the company’s market recognition, also by acquiring new clients and expanding relationships with existing clients.  The Director, Business Development and Marketing is a hybrid role, with equal emphasis on both marketing and business development/sales.  The Director is responsible for managing the company’s marketing initiatives and brand cultivation, and will also be the point-of-contact for assigned clients.   The successful candidate will be hands-on with all marketing initiatives and also excel as a liaison between laboratory staff and the client community, to facilitate communications, ensure timely engagement, and manage follow-up activities.   The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, exude a competitive spirit, and readily take ownership of projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business Development
    • Actively manage business relationships with assigned clients. Prospect to identify new clients. Work with existing clients to identify opportunities to sell new services. Manage the life cycle of opportunities from first contact through closed orders.  
  • Marketing
    • Responsible for marketing initiatives. Facilitate content development by working with the company’s subject matter experts. Creating marketing collateral and pushing that material through appropriate channels.  Coordinating meetings and events, including trade shows. Managing the company’s social media presence. Coordinating with outside marketing firms to maximize return on investment. Develop marketing automation and drip campaigns. Manage paid search campaigns and search engine optimization. Develop metrics to analyze return on marketing investment. 
  • CRM Administration
    • Accountable for the company’s instance of as the primary administrator. Create dashboards for sales team and for leadership to report forecast and other key performance indicators.  

Qualifications and Preferred Skills

  • B.S. Degree
  • Experience in sales and marketing roles in the pharmaceutical R&D environment.  
  • Demonstrated history of success in marketing, CRM administration, and client engagement.  
  • Skilled in identifying critical buying influences within targeted organizations to establish long-term positive relationships.
  • Expertise in best-in-class marketing strategies and tactics.
  • Actively manages entire sales life cycle from inquiry to order, and works with the project management team after hand-off to ensure critical requirements are met. Has a focus on personalized  service and follows up after the sale for repeat business.
  • Prospects, identifies, qualifies, and prioritizes new business leads according to the strategic fit of customer’s current needs and Prolytix’s core capabilities in large molecule characterization and testing.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience selling to international accounts, internet brokered sales, and distributor managed sales.
  • Develop and maintain an entire business pipeline of prospective clients and assume all territory management in an assigned geographic region, customers, or business areas.
  • Provide timely and accurate reporting of pipeline, account plans, and territory management activities as required through Salesforce Dot Com.
  • Maintain knowledge of competitor’s offerings.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Working knowledge of large molecule services and products for drug discovery and development sufficient to provide a consultative, relationship-based approach.  
  • Experience/expertise with CRM’s such as and LinkedIn Sales Navigator.
